The Assistant Is Stuck or Showing Stale Data

Sometimes the Assistant is blank or shows outdated data.

It might show yesterday's productivity instead of today's, or fail to switch to the Focus Session screen when a session is active. If this happens, work through the steps below in order.

Step 1: Refresh the Assistant

Right-click the RescueTime icon in your menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows) and choose Refresh Assistant. This resolves most stuck or blank Assistant issues.


Step 2: Restart Your Computer

If refreshing the Assistant doesn't fix the problem, restart your computer. RescueTime will restart automatically and the Assistant should return to normal.


Step 3: Reinstall RescueTime

If the problem persists after restarting, a complete reinstallation usually resolves it. See How to do a Complete Reinstallation of RescueTime for full steps:

Uninstall the current RescueTime app

Restart your computer

Reinstall RescueTime
