Force Quitting RescueTime

If RescueTime is unresponsive, use the force quit steps below for your operating system.

After quitting the app, you can reopen RescueTime normally from your Applications folder (macOS) or Start menu (Windows).

Windows

Using Task Manager

Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and choose Task Manager, or right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager.

Click the Processes tab and find RescueTime in the list.

Select it and click End Task, or right-click it and choose End Task from the menu.


macOS

Option A: Force Quit menu

Press Command + Option + Escape to open the Force Quit menu.

Select RescueTime and click Force Quit.

Option B: Activity Monitor

Open Activity Monitor (Applications → Utilities → Activity Monitor).

Find RescueTime in the list and select it.

Click the X button at the top of the window and confirm.

Option C: Apple menu

Click the Apple menu and choose Force Quit.

Select RescueTime from the list and click Force Quit.

Uninstalling? Quit RescueTime before attempting to uninstall it. See Uninstalling RescueTime for instructions.
