How to download and install RescueTime for MacOS

To track your computer activity, you'll need to download and install RescueTime on your desktop. Logging in on the RescueTime website without installing the desktop app will not track your computer activity.

Download the RescueTime Assistant from the website.

After clicking Download, look for the file RescueTimeInstaller_X.zip in your browser's downloads bar (usually at the top right or bottom left, depending on your browser). You can also find it in your Downloads folder if that’s your default location.

Double-click RescueTimeInstaller_X.zip to unzip the file RescueTime.app. Drag RescueTime.app to your Applications folder.
Go to your Applications folder and open the RescueTime app.
You'll be prompted with a security measure from macOS. Click Open.
The RescueTime Assistant will open and ask you to sign in. When you click the Sign In button you’ll be taken to the RescueTime website on your default web browser to sign into your RescueTime account.
After signing in, click Activate Assistant.
Once activated, the Assistant will open when you click the RescueTime icon in your menu bar.
