Signing Into a Different Account

If RescueTime is connected to the wrong account, you can sign out and sign back in with the correct one.

There are two ways to do this. Both sign you out of the desktop app completely so you can reconnect with a different email address.

Method 1: From Settings

Open Settings

Click the RescueTime icon in your menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows) to open the Assistant, click the gear icon, and choose Settings.

Sign out

In the General tab, click Sign Out.

Sign back in

Click Sign in when prompted. You'll be taken to the RescueTime website to sign in with the correct account. Once signed in, click Activate Assistant to reconnect.


Method 2: From the Menu Bar or System Tray

Log out

Right-click the RescueTime icon in your menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows) and choose Log Out.

Sign back in

Follow the prompts to sign in with the correct account. You'll be taken to the RescueTime website to sign in with the correct account. Click Activate Assistant to reconnect.

💡 Not sure which account has your data? Before signing out, click the gear icon, choose Help, and contact support. The support team can help you identify which account is tracking activity.
