The Daily Highlights Report

Daily Highlights let you add context to the time RescueTime logs automatically.

They're a short, daily record of the meaningful things you accomplished: notes in your own words that sit alongside your tracked activity. This article covers how to add them and where they show up.

Adding a Highlight

Start from the Focus menu

Highlights are added from the Focus menu in the top navigation, under Add Highlights. That opens the "What were you working on?" page for the selected day.

The Add Highlights page titled What were you working on, with a notes field on the left and a timeline of the day on the right

Type a note about what you accomplished into the field on the left and click Add. Use the date control at the top right to add or review highlights for another day.

Using the Highlights timeline

The right side of the page shows your Highlights timeline: a chronological view of the day's tracked activity, grouped by hour into Morning, Afternoon, and so on. It's there to jog your memory, so you can look back at what you were doing and capture the highlights worth remembering.

Sharing and Automating

Share, download, or log automatically

Use the Share and Download buttons to send or save your highlights for the day or selected timespan. You can also log highlights automatically from other systems instead of entering them by hand.

💡 Automate your highlights. Some of the tools you already use can post highlights for you. See the highlights setup page for examples.

Where Your Highlights Appear

Once logged, your highlights show up in a few places so the context travels with your data:

Your dashboard

Part of the day's summary, to the right of your goals.

Your weekly email

Summarized with the rest of your week.

The Highlights page

A dedicated page showing your highlights for a selected time period.
