  • RescueTime can automatically update your Slack status during your work hours. When you are in a meeting, in a Focus Session, or working on Focus Work, your Slack status will reflect your current activity.

    You can customize the status messages, including the text and emoji, to suit your preferences.

    Note: RescueTime only updates your status during your work hours.

    How to connect Slack to RescueTime

    Before you connect your Slack account to RescueTime, make sure you are signed in to Slack.

    1. Go to Settings > Manage Apps > Learn more 

    2. Click Connect your Slack account.

    3. Grant the required permissions.

    4. RescueTime is now connected to Slack. 

    Using the Slack integration

    Once Slack is connected to RescueTime, you can customize the settings to control what appears in your Slack status. You can choose to share when you are in a Focus Session, how long the session will last, and the type of activities you are currently focusing on.

    Focus Session updates

    During a Focus Session, your Slack status will show that you're in a Focus Session with a timer and snooze icon by your profile image. 

    Hovering over your profile will display the length of your Focus Session. When your Focus Session ends, the status message will disappear.

    Other Slack status updates

    Toggle this option on to enable status updates.

    Below are the options for customizing your Slack status:

    Manage apps > Gear icon > Delete app > Confirm
