Websites Not Tracked in Google Chrome
If RescueTime is tracking Chrome as a single block of time but not showing the individual websites you visit, it's almost always a missing Automation permission on macOS.
RescueTime needs this permission to read Chrome's window titles, which is how it identifies which website you're on. Follow the steps below to fix it.
Open System Settings
Click the Apple menu and open System Settings.
Go to Privacy & Security → Automation
Select Privacy & Security in the sidebar, then click Automation.
Enable Google Chrome under RescueTime
Find RescueTime in the list and expand it. Turn on the toggle next to Google Chrome.
If the toggle is greyed out, click the lock icon and enter your password or use Touch ID to unlock the settings first.
Restart both apps
Quit and reopen both RescueTime and Google Chrome. To quit RescueTime, right-click the icon in your menu bar and choose Quit, then reopen it from your Applications folder.
Browse a few sites in Chrome, then check your reports. On paid plans, activity appears within a few minutes. On the free plan, it may take up to 30 minutes.
Double-check the Automation setting
Go back to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation and confirm Google Chrome is toggled on under RescueTime.
Make sure RescueTime is running
Look for the RescueTime icon in your menu bar. If it's not there, open the app from your Applications folder.
Try restarting both apps again
Quit RescueTime and Chrome completely, then reopen both and browse a few sites before checking your reports.
